I guess all the hustle-n-bustle and running around finally got to me. I AM SICK!!! : ( But in all honesty. . . I'm actually kinda glad I am sick now rather then on New Years Eve. I have a very important New Years Eve Party I want to attend so I guess it's better my sickness hit now instead of a week later. I always try and see the glass as half full even when I'm feeling like crap! hahahaha
Just got done making my famous sage & celery stuffing. I always make the stuffing a day early so the flavors have a chance to really soak in, plus it leaves me with one less thing to do in the morning when I am already busy. Now that that's out of the way I will make some pancakes for my kids then take a hot bath and go back to bed!!! Hope you are enjoying this fine Christmas eve!!!

OK, so here we come up on THE END OF TIME! after a year of very flawed Doctor Who "specials." Flawed because of Russell T. Davies, who in my opinion has reached his expiration date as far as writing Doctor Who goes. It seems to me that he has done as much as he can do with the character and I'm glad he's handing it off to someone else.
Granted, that moment at the end of Waters of Mars when The Doctor suddenly turns into The Master and doesn't realize it was very smart. If you are the Last Timelord, what's to stop you? Time itself, of course. The Doctor, not The God.
However, the holes in the plot were preposterous at the end; the only thing that saved it was David Tennant, who was a better actor than the material deserved. Sometimes I get the impression that Davies no longer regards the character of Doctor Who as anything but a blob of silly putty to be stretched at will to ludicrous extremes, but Tennant believes in the Doctor as a valid character. Tennant invests himself in the role out of a kind of respect for the character, and thereby makes the scripts work, sometimes in spite of themselves.
And that is precisely what has saved these "special episodes," is the acting, not the scripts - which by and large have had gaping holes you could drive a truck through, discontinuities that are of the worst sort - the ones that hit you afterward, when the show is over, leaving you with the feeling you've been duped.
But the positives. David Morrissey made an excellent Doctor, even if he wasn't really one, and Dervla Kirwan was suitably twisted in The Next Doctor. Planet of the Dead was all fluff but featured the sleek and curvy Michelle Ryan, who I knew nothing about before but will definitely remember now. Lindsay Duncan added power and dignity to her role as Adelaide Brooke, and faced off fiercely against the Doctor as his conscience (the role that Donna Noble used to fulfill, with an equally tragic end).
And really, for me, any Doctor Who is better than none. Certainly these "specials" have had problems, but I have to remind myself that this renewed Doctor Who is still some of the most fun, and sometimes the best, science fiction on TV for me. So I'm going to remind myself of that before THE END OF TIME!!! OMG!!! pops up this weekend. I am going to try not to focus on my memories of what a clusterfuck last year's Journey's End was, with everything but the kitchen sink being thrown in for an incomprehensible thrill-a-minute ride, and I am going to try not to think about how much more kitchen-sinky THE END OF TIME!!!! may well be. All in all, I'll still be watching it.
But I will also say that as much as I will miss David Tennant, I am looking forward to Steven Moffat, and yes, even Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor. The best and worst thing about Doctor Who is that everything is always subject to change, just like time itself - nothing stays the same, for better or worse, and part of the fun of being a Doctor Who fan, for me, is going along for the ride and seeing what's coming up around the curve. And so I will be there at THE END OF TIME!!! Which makes me either a fool or a fan, or both, same thing.

I made cheese straws today and they just didn't taste right. The puff pastry didn't seem right - low on salt, not very buttery.
Turns out that the frozen puff pastry from Whole Foods isn't made with butter.

So yesterday I went to the store "Target" to get some last minute things like, stocking stuffers, ribbons, bows, tape, ect. . . and surprisingly is was NOT crowded. I really hate crowds when I am trying to do something important so I am thrilled everyone was either still at work or didn't get up as early as I did. hahaha
I want to give a special thanks to my dear friend Paul for the beautiful gift box he sent me yesterday. Another music CD by my favorite holiday artists "MANNHEIM STEAMROLLERS" I am listening to the CD right now. . . it's just beautiful and so relaxing. The box was also filled with my other favorite things like sour gumi candy, molasses candy canes, an adorable kitty tea cup, pop corn, and some other generous things as well like gift cards to my favorite places to eat. THANK YOU SO MUCH PAUL!!! I sincerely appreciate you for taking the time to find all my favorite things, box them up, and ship them to me. You are so sweet and a very thoughtful friend : )
