Kick Elli, Kick!

Turns you on
To get myself out of a fitness rut, I've spent the last few weeks in the pool. I've always loved to swim, so I'm really not sure why I took such a long hiatus. After purchasing a responsible, full coverage swim suit (which is really a great deal harder than it seems) I was ready for the lanes!

The "Davis Mile" intrigued me when I found it online yesterday, so I tried it today.

The Davis Mile, broken 1650
Subtract 2 ½ minutes for total time:
275 swim (11 lengths) @ 20 seconds rest
250 swim (10 lengths) @ 20 seconds rest
225 swim (9 lengths) @ 20 seconds rest
200 swim (8 lengths) @ 15 seconds rest
175 swim (7 lengths) @ 15 seconds rest
150 swim (6 lengths) @ 15 seconds rest
125 swim (5 lengths) @ 15 seconds rest
100 swim (4 lengths) @ 10 seconds rest
75 swim (3 lengths) @ 10 seconds rest
50 swim (2 lengths) @ 10 seconds rest
25 swim (1 length)
Cool-down-
150 choice
Total = 3000

This was the first day I counted laps instead of just swimming for an hour straight, and I was somewhat pleased to see that I completed the "mile" in 49 minutes. That's with a lot of leg only, arm only, and breast stroke thrown in for good measure, so I wasn't trying to beat any hot lap records. Still, it gives me something to aim for in the future!

I love that my leg muscles are already showing up better and my abs are coming back from their long winter's nap! Note to self: swimming is an excellent "cutter" for me for that instant buff look. I'll have to keep this one in my back pocket :

No, no, no. Don't keep it in your "back pocket". We (the Fans) want to see. 8-)

It is and it feels so good after! Like I used every muscle. Good for you for getting back in the pool!
